On The Fly Photography is about creation out of chaos. My style arose from a foundation of minimal equipment & planning. Black and white film, the Zone System, ambient light and location shooting are how I developed my vision. Even when I am working with digital format, studio lighting, controlled conditions and utilizing post-processing on the computer I still aim for the root concept of working On The Fly. To much control crushes creativity and spontaneity. Expectations must come second to improvisation.
Time/Place Photography is a division of On The Fly Photography dedicated to creating unique portraits which tell the story of the subject, photo-journalistic wedding photography and event photography.
Location Scout - Mama Said Sew
06. June 2010 07:41Mama Said Sew is the most amazing of amazing fabric, sewing and craft stores. Owned by the effervescent Angela and located in downtown Fort Collins, Colorado. They have classes, crafting meetups, fashion shows and a friendly atmosphere. You know you wanna go visit.
These are tourist photos for scouting purpose - not fine art. And yes, some of them are over-exposed. :)

Grandfather's Legacy

My Grandfather died recently. He was killed in a car crash. Before that happened he had a wonderful life. He survived WWII, owned his own business and spent his life doing what he loved - mechanical tinkering on automobiles, engines and bombers. The photos here are from his land. This "junk" was his treasure which he would never part with.
My Grandfather saw the world in sharp focus and bright colours. That's what I choose to reflect in these images.

The lighting for this even was terrible, but I managed to snatch a few photos from the event. I hope then next time they rent out the Sunset Event Centre they get a decent light plot as part of the deal.

Cohere, LLC - architectural shoot

These are photos of the Cohere Coworking space in downtown Fort Collins. One of the few times I've used a tripod. That's usually not my style. There were all done with f/22, long exposures and ambient light. Almost no post processing at all had to be done either. I'm very happy with the results.

Please rate each image using the stars. Would you want to have this photo hanging on your wall at home or in your workplace? Some of them are part of a series, some stand alone. You can leave notes about your rating as well such as "this is good as a series, but not as much on its own".
By what criteria should you evaluate these photos? Your own opinion of course. That is the one thing you are an expert in.
