Goofball

Hey goofball, how the hell am I suppose to win
when we aren’t even playing the same game?
Some times hot, sometimes cold, it’s getting rather old.
The boy rules and the girl rules obviously are not the same.

Hey goofball, I am willing to turn all my attention to you.
It would be so easy for me to forget every other woman.
Sometimes I’m sure, sometimes confused, often I simply feel abused.
Encounters between us are either stimulating or numbing.

Hey goofball, you be my planet, I’ll be your satellite.
I get all elated when I fall into your orbit, but on reentry
I crash and burn, seems I can’t learn, how to touch down softly.
Perhaps my formula is outdated, but I can’t seem to reinvent me.

Hey goofball, if I lose you it will surely break my heart.
How will I ever make it without your smile & your bounce.
You’re just so springy, sometimes you’re dingy, sometimes you’re smart.
No mater how you are I am kept coiled & ready to pounce.
