Dream of You
I awake from the dream.
The lamp downstairs is casting shadows on my wall.
I tug the blanket off me
then pull the sheet over.
Not for warmth.
I simply don't want to be naked to the world.
Naked to myself,
equally stripped down thoughts I've been
knowingly neglecting.
Shouts in voices I can no longer ignore,
especially in these quiet, hushed hours.
I dreampt of you.
For the first time ever.
The dream twisted and turned thru a complex plot.
Yours was only a walk on part.
Caught in the corner of my eye
you asked me some question.
I don't remember it.
I do remember that I laughed and walked away.
Yeah.
The things we do in our dreams are
the things we'd like to do when awake.
