ClockWorks

While we are all chasing our tails, do we bother to notice what we're missing? The clock works & we work with it. Always sure of what we are doing, but never really sure why we're doing it. Always making good time, but never really sure if we're going in the right direction. Always building a fine house, but never really sure if it's on the right foundation.

The clock works & we work with it. The compass gathers dust in some forgotten corner. We are always working to get something, something we think we need. A bigger house, a nicer car, fancy clothing, a sexier girlfriend, a wealthier boyfriend. We never stop to wonder why we need these things.

It's all image, like a bad MTV video, like a Coke / Pepsi / carbonated water commercial. We are trying to sell ourselves, yet no one wants to admit they are a prostitute.

You can lie to yourself. . .

Don't misunderstand, I'm not a commie-lib, I'm not a socialist pink-o, I'm a capitalist pig & proud of it. The image things are nice, even fun, but . . . while we chase all the image things, what are we missing?

Do we notice the angels looking over us? Do we know where the stream leads? Or where it flows from? Do we see the wheels that grind us down over the years? Do we call these the "dog days" instead of realizing they are in fact the "good old days"? In the end, when we look at our shattered dreams, why are they broken? Who broke them? How many pictures do we fail to see because the clock is in the way? How many times do we tell ourselves the issue is clouded in shades of gray when it's really black & white, specifically so that we can avoid making a decision?

Less Money
Less Stress
