Then one day we get a wake up call, if we're lucky. Something happens and "Me" realizes that "Me" is loud, obnoxious, self-centered, and quite honestly not very much fun to hang out with (especially since "Me" always has to be mouthing off "Me"s opinions when no one wants to hear them).
One day "Me" discovers "Us". And a whole new world opens up.
"Us" has a good time at parties. "Us" does things together. "Us" helps each other when times are bad. "Us" takes credit when a plan comes together & when it falls apart. "Us" shares the attention. "Us" compliments itself. "Us" sets limits and rules that benefit "Us". "Us" is 50% / 50%. "Us" has no parts which are expendable. "Us" is "Us" or nothing. "Us" follows the rules or "Us" finds another game to play. "Us" follows the teachings "Us" believes. "Us" doesn't play pretend. "Us" isn't a hypocrite. "Us" doesn't whine. "Us" has no "Other" because "Us" is "Everyone". "Us" is not blind to the faults in "Us".
"Us" can be all of us, given time. "Us" is a journey, not a destination, & that journey takes time. Some of us walk slow. Real slow. "Us" takes photographs that are good technically, but go beyond the technical aspects. "Us" captures personality, ego & emotion. "Us" makes science an art. "Us" is the photographer and the subject.
"Us" writes silly discourses like this, but "Us" has a good time doing so, and "Us" has a sense of humor about the whole thing. "Us" can laugh at the image in the mirror.
"Us" is power, "Us" is strength, "Us" makes the path, "Us" is where it's really at. "Us" never stops growing & achieving. "Us" "Us" "Us" "Us" . . . .
I am pleased to see that we have differences. May we together become greater than the sum of both of us.
